How does ghostwriting work?

The process will be simple and fun. The first thing we will do is plan your book. We will discuss your business and business goals, as well as your goals for your book. I will coach you through this process to help you choose what will work best for your goals.

I then take your knowledge and turn it into a book that is laser focused on your desired outcome. I can gather information from any number of sources, such as interviews with you, notes, outlines, white papers, articles, blogs, podcasts, and video or other audio recordings. I then organize the material and write your book for you. This process is well developed and helps me capture your knowledge and voice.

How much does ghostwriting cost?

Your investment will depend on how long your book is and how much is required of me.

Most people find that I can ghostwrite a book that they can be proud to call their own in the $17,500 to $35,000 range, although that number could be less or more depending on the project, including the length of the book, your timeline, and the amount and organization of existing content you have. Additionally, if you have a specific budget in mind, I can propose a smaller or larger custom project scope that could work well for you.

In addition, I have two Associate Ghostwriters on staff who are talented writers, but less experienced than me. They can be an option for people who have tighter budgets. I’d still plan, coach, and interview you to ensure your book is designed to help position you to achieve your business goals. I’d then take recordings of our interviews and have one of our Associate Ghostwriters do the writing under my supervision.

I also offer payment plans if cash flow is an issue and while I do not discount my services (because I don’t discount the value I commit to provide you either!), I can stretch out the writing and corresponding payments so I’m able to take on additional projects while still providing you with a great book that fits your budget. An Associate Ghostwriter option may help you as well if your budget is tight.

Finally, be sure to check with your CPA because your investment may be tax deductible , thus reducing the net cost of your investment in our services. Given the nature of the books I write, most people see the investment as very small compared to the value of the opportunities a well-written book provides for you in the marketplace.

How long does the process take?

It depends. Factors that influence the timeline include how long you want your book to be, how much research it requires on my end, and how involved and responsive you are in the process. On average it takes between four and eight months from when we begin for you to have your manuscript in your hands. I can provide you with a customized timeline once I understand the scope of your project and we start working together.

Who owns the intellectual property to the book?

Our standard fee includes all intellectual property so that you will own everything. This is spelled out in our services contract so it’s completely clear.

What kind of books do you write?

I write nonfiction books only and specialize in books for business professionals, speakers, and coaches. I help them turn their stories, knowledge, and/or existing content into books that will help them get more opportunities, clients, and authority in their field.

Will our relationship be confidential?

Absolutely. I’ve practiced law for well over a decade and can assure you that our relationship will be confidential, as detailed in our written ghostwriting agreement.

Can you help me with design and other related work?

Yes. I can help you with everything you need to create and market a book. I have relationships with several copy editors, graphic designers, layout engineers, literary agents, small and large publishers, self-publishing solutions, and professional public relations agencies. I can build a custom package that includes any number of these services and guide you throughout the entire process.

Can you provide me with any references?

Yes. Although all clients are kept strictly confidential, I can connect you with people who I have worked with in various coaching and writing projects who can attest to my professionalism, work ethic, judgment, coaching prowess, creativity, and writing.
